Glutathione, Carpel Tunnel Syndrome Pain
and Your Brain

July 1st, 2009

There is a carpel tunnel syndrome pain and your brain connection. There is also a glutathione connection. Put all three together and you can eliminate your pain.

The ultimate ulterior health management resource we possess is our mind. I believe carpel tunnel syndrome pain can be managed with your brain. However, there is the need for clinical evidence.

Many drug trials, especially ones concerned with or related to mental health, factor into their statistical models the possibility of placebo effect.

The placebo effect is in essence, if you think it will work, it will work. This presents a dilemma. If you can get rid of pain in your head, would that not be a good thing? This is really another topic.

Since this placebo effect is especially true of mental health drug trials, then it would stand to reason that there could be a relationship with anything related to the nervous system.

So, some time ago I put this theory to the test and sure enough, for me, it worked.

But, with many placebo effects the results are not always repeatable. So, when the opportunity to repeat the test came, again it worked.

Let me explain. I apologize for this being a bit long.

A few years ago a dear friend from New York City started learning a nerve manipulation technique called Bowen. Armed with just enough information on how it works to take care of my rare carpel tunnel pain, a series of events unfolded.

The very day of learning of Bowen, while sitting in the back of a car waiting on some friends, it seemed like a good time to check my eyelids for pin holes (take a quick nap). A few minutes later on awaking, there was the hand numbness that had not happened since leaving the stone masonry profession.

By numbness, I mean no feeling what so ever. It was still possible to move the hand although other times in the distant past, even movement was not possible. It was like having a dead limb. This experience was part of the reason for a career change into Nursing.

So, trying my new skills resulted in the most wonderful thing. No more numbness. Instantly, it was gone. Better yet, there were no other pains that used to accompany the numbness after it went away. The pins and needles and then the pain that lasted for up to 30 minutes never happened. Instantly relief was felt.

This new found underlying way to manage my wrist health resulted in me being able to return to being an artist. Actually, it was the very next day that I created the fish you see here. Then the next day after that a few more fish were made along with some moons.

Steel Fish Sculpture made from car hood

Next came the painting. I am not talking about house painting.

impressionist painting of sun and field of flowers

This was fantastic. Of course, it did not hurt that I sold over a dozen of my steel sculptures to a gallery in New Hope, PA and one through a dealer in Lambertsville, NJ (one of the top 10 places to buy art in the world). Note that they were not on consignment, they were bought outright from the gallery.

But this way of treating carpel tunnel is not the ulterior truth you need to know. Yes, Bowen can provide an interesting way to treat this wrist pain. But there is more.

The Ulterior Mental Resource for Health

Our mental processes provide a unique way to manage or in some cases even treat many health problems.

Learning Bowen for the wrist was only the first part.

One night, on awaking from sleep, the pain of my stone masonry days had returned to torture me. Only thing, this was from my current love with whom I was having an affair, my art. My wife sometimes feels I am married to my art. In trying to reassure her, it was explained that this makes her my mistress.

Not wanting to get up to do the Bowen thing, the question arose, what if it was possible to do the Bowen mentally and not physically.

So, imagining that each of the steps of the Bowen procedure were preformed in my mind, the process started. This even went so far as imagining the pain that the Bowen sometimes produces. The result….

It worked. As soon as the last procedure was accomplished, the pain was gone.

But wait…there is more.

Yesterday, I just started painting our house to get it ready to sell. This morning, about 4 AM the pain came along with some numbness in my finger tips. Since learning about the ulterior benefits of boosting intercellular glutathione, carpel tunnel pain has been vary rare and vary mild.

As with most people, when I am feeling better I do not do the necessary things to maintain health. So, the glutathione boosting supplements had been omitted from my diet for a few days. To make matters worse, I had a very small dish of ice cream (it was not organic ice-cream). The toxic effect of the prolactin in the milk in the ice cream and no supplemental detoxification resulted in a perfect storm for me to awake in pain this morning. Oh yea, there was a terrific headache too. I never get headaches.

Well, once again doing the mental Bowen, the pain subsided. It kept returning and it continued receding with the mental process. On taking my cysteine to boost my glutathione, within a few hours the headache was gone and my hand was almost at 100%.

At this time the elbow was still sore but there is virtually no hand pain even with a few hours of typing on the computer. By the way, this was being hammered out on my computer at the same time the carpal pain and headache was disappearing.

Yes, learn to use the mind to help your body to heal.

Good Health to you and hopefully an end to your pain. That is, if the glutathione carpel tunnel syndrome and your brain thing works for you.

Sleepless in…

June 29th, 2009

A visitor to GlutathioneDiseaseCure.com wrote asking for some help with sleep. If you can’t sleep, then this is for you.

This affects more than most people realize. This particular situation is one of the more serious lack of sleep experiences that you will ever hear of. Unfortunately or maybe not, the doctors have given up on their patient.

Here are some recommendations that were shared. Although you may have heard of some, there are twists and different applications that you may not be aware of.

Sleep Hygiene

If not already, you will need to set a time to sleep and stick to it. Sound familiar? Well there is more. Part of this routine is planning and visualizing the sleep. If you have the same emotions I have, you are thinking, does Jonathan Steele have two heads. I cannot imagine what if feels like to imagine doing it.

This is part of the problem. It is part of the way our brains are programmed.

You see, our brains are hard wired to run programs much like a computer does. Only thing, sometimes they get a bad program installed somewhere along the way. A program that says not to do what it would seem natural to do. That program, regardless of what is done to assist the sleep, either mechanically or chemically, has to be rewritten.

The rewriting process takes 27-31 days. Actually it takes 27-31 days of habitually doing something to develop a habit. A habit is nothing more than brain programming. So, if you could imagine sweet sleep, the kind where someone asks you how did you sleep and you say, ” I can’t say, I was asleep.” The kind where your last thought was going to sleep and your next thought is waking up and it is morning. Try to create an image of what you would want it to be.

Once you have the image, the next thing is to write it down. You do not need to be Hemingway. You only need the brain / hand thing to reinforce the mental / neuro connection of what you want.

Following this you will want to do a simple procedure that has several names. I use the term Z tracking eye movement. This I discovered quite by accident. You see, as a nurse, I was mostly in the float pool. So it became easier to do total assessments of all of my patients than to do just the limited assessment of the discipline or floor of my assignment.

One day a supervisor was following me on my rounds. I asked her what was going on. She explained that my outcomes were better than any of the other nurses in one discipline and management wanted to know what I was doing different. (Actually every nurse in this field had at least one patient die if not two. The risk of death was 2 in 100. None of my patients in over several hundred died. Two should have but did not.)

Almost a year later it became apparent that the Z track eye movement thing was one of the things that made my patients more compliant and less stressed during my watch. This was usually a 16 hours on, 8 off, 16 on and then maybe 8 off and a final 8 shift rotation.

So, the Z track eye movement thing…..before you go, read the section below and then come back.

On this page…Scroll down to the Z Track Eye Movement / EMI subheading

Once you try this, (note: please do it sitting down and alone so people do not think your losing it) do this in the morning after you get up. You could try it at night when you cannot sleep but especially do it in the morning.

On completion (you may feel a bit of a buzz or a bit dizzy) then start imagining your first night of real sleep. In other words, start programming your brain. Since our brains are organic, new programs do not always re-write over night. Some times, in trauma they do. But to get them to do good things takes time. One friend who we reprogrammed her from constant negative thinking, took over several months. Of course she did not know we were doing it to her. But that is another story, a wonderful one with a happy ending.

Next, do all you previously heard about your daily routine.

Additionally, avoid fluoride in the water, anything with MSG, only drink organic milk (the growth hormone Prolack is in regular milk), and aspartame and Spenda. You probably already know to avoid sugar, do not eat anything five hours before sleep, and do not take a hot bath prior to trying to go to sleep. Unfortunately this may disrupt your personal hygiene schedule.

Think of yourself as a scientist. You are the test subject. You are going to try several things to see which work. It will take a bit of time to reprogram your brain so you will need to stick with these for at least a few weeks.

Dietary Supplements

From the same people who have the cherry juice I use and recommend, they have a pill that has a part of milk that makes you relax. It was tested in McGill and if memory serves me, it was found to be clinically the same a Valium only not addictive. It is called PNT 200 (the trademarked name)

That being said, I only use it when needed an no more. You can decide for yourself on this subject. I know of a few who have taken it daily and have no problems when they forget or stop. Personally my thoughts are that once our body is tuned up, we can maintain it with diet, exercise and thoughts. Every once and a while we may get a bit of rust or corrosion that needs extra help, such as a supplement to care for it.

Click Here to get the PNT 200 I do not know if it will work for you but it sure does for me. Please feel free to call me personally for details.

Then the Cherry juice. This I do use almost daily. However, I intentionally skip a few days before starting it again. That is, unless the lack of sleep beast rears its ugly head. Then I take it at night and every night, usually an hour before I go to sleep. It has always worked by the second or third night. Then after about 15 days of doing it, my pattern is usually pretty good. Then back to my few to 5 days on, two days off schedule.

By the way, you will take about two table spoons and put in a glass of water. I think each can has about 1500 cherries in it so you will get more than if you tried to eat just cherries.

This pattern is not from the cherry juice people. This comes from working with allergy sufferers. The docs recommend never eating the same food more than three days in a row with two days off. Otherwise you could develop an allergy. This is not to say you will. This is just the wisdom of the allergy doc’s. So I modified it for myself to make it easier to remember. My on days are Sunday through Thursday and off Friday and Saturday.

Hope this helps you.

Best wishes on a future of good sleep.

Toxic Toys?

June 27th, 2009

Are your children playing with toxic toys? Please check out this post on toxic toys.

Take special note of the comment…”LeapFrog has substantive and certified testing results from a third-party lab that verifies the Leapster2 carry case well exceeds all safety requirements, in both the United States and Europe.”

Safety requirements. Hmmm, does this mean that there are safe levels of toxins? In other words, the level of toxins is not enough to do harm.

Constantly we hear about drugs that were previously approved and are now unsafe, some even being removed from the market all together. This includes over the counter “natural remedies” as well. All were considered safe at the time of their release.

So, what is meant by safe?

The bottom line, any toxin is too much. This is because of the ability for toxins to accumulate. It is virtually impossible and unethical to have a clinical trial on how much toxin a child will absorb from a toy.

Why not create toys with no toxins. We can put men on the moon. Is this beyond our ability to solve?

The only way to deal with this is to avoid those toys.

Our bodies can defend us to a limited extent. However, it is much different in children.

A child rarely gets all the nutrients they need to mount a defense against a toxic attack. If the child has any of several diseases or conditions, including but not limited to autism, they are at greater risk of absorbing and accumulating the toxins in their bodies.

The ability for their bodies to make glutathione (the main defense against toxins) is limited by both their bodies and their lack of intake of the nutrients. ( The North American / much of Northern European Diets are depleted of many essential nutrients).

A former pediatric nurse, I have several hundred children, all of them grown up, several not with us any more, none of my own. My ulterior motive in this is only the health and welfare of our children.

Good health to you and yours.

Why the Warnings on Three Zicam Intranasal Zinc Products

June 17th, 2009

On June 16, 2009, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave the warning for consumers to stop using three zinc-containing Zicam products. The products, all used in the nose, may cause a loss of sense of smell.

Incidentally, intra-nasal means in the nose.

First a bit about what happened. Then an opinion as to why the FDA warning needed to be put in place in relation to the Zicam risk.

The three products are advertised as reducing the duration of the common cold and or the severity of cold symptoms.

The products (listed with their size and product numbers) are

• Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Gel (15mL, NDC 62750-003-10)
• Zicam Cold Remedy Swabs (20 swabs, NDC 67250-003-20)
• Zicam Cold Remedy Swabs, Kids Size (20 swabs, NDC 67250-003-21)

The Zicam products are sold in pharmacies, retail stores, and on the Internet. Zicam Cold Remedy Swabs, Kids Size, have already been discontinued.

Why did the FDA take this action?

The report indicated there were more than 130 reports of anosmia—the loss of sense of smell—associated with use of these three Zicam products.

The FDA also sent a warning letter to Matrixx Initiatives advising that these products cannot be marketed without FDA approval. The warning letter also notes that the products do not include adequate warnings about the risk of loss of sense of smell.

Why since this is a natural product. There is no scientific explanation at the present.
However, here are a few possibilities.

It comes down to a few simple principles.

One, if a little is good, more is not always better and some times it can cause serious harm.

Consider vitamins A, D, E, K that are good if they are taken in moderation. Take too much and you will get sick.

Zinc is a powerful essential nutrient. It is one of the glutathione co-factors.

Years ago it was a common wound treatment. It prevented infection in wounds.

Chelated in the form of lozenges, it is the best sore throat remedy available on the market. It has been clinically shown to shorten the duration of a cold.

However, even the makers of the cold lozenge that stops sore throats tells you that there are certain circumstances you should not take it under. One of the most important, is that you should not take it for more than the directed times per day and not more than three to five days in a row.

Also, our mucous membranes are the quickest route to the blood stream short of an IV injection. Since they can absorb the zinc faster than, say our skin, there is increased risk of an overdose.

One of the articles on this said there are no studies to prove that the Zicam actually causes the loss of smelling.

Imagine this: A major over the counter supplement company looking for volunteers for clinical trials of existing product. Some will be in the placebo group. Others will get the actual treatment. Those receiving the treatment will possibly risk losing their ability to smell. It is not known if it will be temporary or for the rest of your life.

Wow, let me sign up for that. How much do you say I get paid?

It is a bit late for such a trial.

Not to fear. Rush L said he has been using it, (to garner incredible advertising fees) for some time now and has not lost his sense of smell.

What you do is up to you. However, it is sometimes best to err on the side of caution.

This brings an important point about complimentary alternative medicine (CAM). Stories like this provides fodder for explanations as to reasons for doctors to reject all CAM.

The ulterior truth is that there is no one right answer. The answers, what ever they may be, may be unique to each of us.

Good health to you.

Alternative Therapy

June 16th, 2009

The Glutathione Disease Cure is not an “alternative therapy.”

The term alternative therapy implies using one process or approach to treating a disease or condition at the exclusion of others.

The information on GlutathioneDiseaseCure.com website is to provide:

A resource for information that will help information seekers to find answers.

Complimentary therapies to add to those offered by conventional medicine.

Some of the pieces of the health care puzzle to those trying to put it together.

I once asked a doctor if a certain drug could be causing the adverse effects that the patient was experiencing. He said no. When asking what was causing the symptoms his response, “We don’t know.”

If he did not know, then how could he say it was not the drug. It took a decade for science to finally find out what I suspected. The drug was causing the problem.

The best doctors rely on evidence based medicine rather than just conjecture, opinion and their experience like the doctor mentioned above.

Unwillingness to even consider complimentary alternative medicine is rationalized by comments ranging from a lack of “legitimate scientific evidence” or “peer reviewed studies,” to, “I don’t believe in that.”

To further complicate matters, our health care systems has a standard of care that is dictated by advertising produced by pharmaceutical companies.

People, like you, are wanting more. They are not willing to relegate their health to what an insurance company dictates and pharmaceutical companies recommend. There is a movement toward the use of well-studied, scientifically validated treatments that have considerably more science than the “this I believe prescription” that some doctors practice as medicine.

What you will read on GlutathioneDiseaseCure.com is supported by links to and literature citations from highly respected, peer reviewed scientific and medical publications.

Good health to you.

Tylenol Troubles? You Bet Your Life!

June 13th, 2009

There is a warning out about Tylenol. Seems it is associated with some sever health problems.

I have been sounding the warning for over 15 years now. I am no longer alone.

One of my specialties in health care is Bloodless Medicine and Surgery.

For over a decade I have been discouraging the use of acetaminophen  in the hospital and especially when there was a risk of loss of blood. Of my over 600 patients refusing blood, not one died. One had lost well over 75% of his blood.

Most doctors do not know that Acetaminophen, (APAP, Tylenol, Liquiprin, or  Panadol) actually interferes with the production of red blood cells. This interference is quite sever when blood counts are low. Once the doctors exclude the use of Tylenol the patients do quite well. Although this is only part of the whole, studies suggest that bloodless patients get out of the hospital 1/2 to 3 days faster. Additionally there is a lower morbidity and mortality in bloodless medicine.

Then a few years ago, on hearing a lecture, the doctor speaking talked about selenium. We were giving 200 mcg to prostate patients originally.

Note: For those who loathe pills, my patients are taught to take two brazil nuts a day (each has 100 mcg of selenium) and they will most likely die of something other than prostate cancer.

But selenium was only a piece of the puzzle.

It turns out selenium is given to a lot of diseases and conditions now, including the patients in the burn unit of the hospital.

I wondered why. The reason is because of improved outcomes. But why the improved outcomes?

Enter glutathione. Selenium is the precursor of glutathione. You cannot take glutathione, however you can take the supplements to boost your bodies intercellular glutathione.

But wait, this gets better.

Low Cysteine Glutathione Syndrome is associated with almost all disease processes. At least as far as they have studied them for this. In other words, if you looked at any disease you will see lower glutathione levels than are necessary.

Glutathione levels actually are used to tell how far HIV-Aids has progressed.

Acetaminophen depletes glutathione from the body.

Hmmmm, so you take acetaminophen and you end the fever and as a bonus, you deplete the body of everything else it needs to fight diseases and other serious conditions.

So what is done in the hospital if you come in with an overdose of acetaminophen?  We give you NAC or N-AcetylCysteine, a precursor of glutathione. The dose is enough to over compensate for the damage of the acetaminophen. The glutathione sacrifices its self and protects the liver.

Incidentally, more than once in my life I have prevented acetaminophen overdoses in the hospital. Twice with babies less than a year old.

Also in the elderly (again, many nurses and doctors do not know this) the max daily dose is reduced of that of a younger person.

And Tylenol Arthritis, let the buyer beware. In more than one study it was found that a placebo worked better than tylenol on arthritis.

Hmmm, this makes total sense. Acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol) depletes your glutathione, which helps you manage among 68 other things, arthritis pain. So if you do not take it, you will do better.

What if there were acetaminophen options? There are. Go to GlutathioneDiseaseCure.com and learn about the dietary and supplements that can help.

So take heed, live well and prosper.

Good health to you.

Sex and Glutathione

June 9th, 2009

From start to babies, glutathione can benefit every aspect of sexual and conceptual (conceiving) health.

Numerous scientific studies show a connection. Now even watermelon has been shown to have benefits. The study did not mention that watermelon is also a great source of cysteine.

It is the cysteine that is associated with boosting glutathione that the clinical trials show benefits the many disease processes and conditions.

Check it the posting on ED and Watermelon

Cheers.
