Here you will find the foods and supplements to boost your glutathione (GSH).

Every day there are new postings on supplements and drinks to boost your glutathione. Yet there are some simple dietary changes that will do the same thing, only for a fraction of the price.

The glutathione diet will help you boost your bodies glutathione levels. These could be called immune boosting foods.

Vegetables

* kale
* onions
* broccoli
* kale
* water cress
* cabbage
* asparagus
* brussel sprouts

Dairy Products

* unpasteurized milk (buy organic to avoid hormone and antibiotics)

Glutathione Side Effects: There is Only One.

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

People often ask what are the glutathione side effects. There is only one that is known to science. It will be at the end of this post. First, there are a few things you need to know.

It is a bit of a wrong question as what they most likely want to know is what are the side effects of cysteine.

Glutathione is a naturally occurring antioxidant within our body. To take oral glutathione results in very little benefit. This is because studies show that the gut breaks it down and makes it into a form that the body is not able to absorb.

Oh yes, as to the skin whitening, There were no, not one high level studies that shows that glutathione whitens your skin. The thing that makes our skin dark actually is part of the mechanism that protects us and is part of the glutathione production.

If your red from sunburn, then cysteine can indeed whiten your skin from the red of the burn. This is because it helps the body heal the burn.

As to the side effects of glutathione, there is basically only one for oral glutathione.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1362956

A PubMed article: The Systemic Availability of Oral Glutathione has an interesting take on this.

It starts off by addressing what is now known as low CG syndrome. In HIV infection, alcoholics, and patients with cirrhosis, there is a decrease of glutathione.

So the hypothesis was presented that increasing the availability of circulating glutathione by oral administration might benefit such patients.

To check out if it would work, they gave a supplement of oral glutathione to 7 healthy volunteers.

The result….The researchers found that dietary glutathione is not a major determinant of circulating glutathione, and it is not possible to increase circulating glutathione to a clinically beneficial extent by the oral administration…of glutathione.

Because the body does not absorb it, there are no side effects reported on.

It should be noted that sometimes when you read that foods have glutathione in them, this may be a marketing ploy. Actually these are often new findings as books over a few years ago do not list these foods as having glutathione.

So, why are they saying this. Well, some foods do have cysteine. This is one of the main precursors of glutathione.

The Glutathione Diet has the foods rich in the glutathione potentiatator cysteine.

Oh yes, the one side effect. Oral glutathione has been associated with extreme and needless pain in the wallet syndrome, also known as parting with your money for nothing syndrome.

In some circles it is viewed as a enabling and co-dependency problem. This is because those who are afflicted with this are often supporting a market that is taking their money and providing no benefit.

Can you spell con artist.

Most do not even realize the condition exists because they are experiencing a placebo effect. If your going to spend the money, why not go for the better quality cysteine supplements. There are several on the market. Two are even listed in the physicians desk reference and are used in the hospital.

If there were a better way, it would start with life style and diet changes.

Good health to you and yours.

Low Cysteine Glutathione Syndrome: Another of the Causes of Male Infertility

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Of all the causes of male infertility, and there are a lot, one that is not directly spoken of in the literature is Low Cysteine Glutathione Syndrome or low CG Syndrome. Not directly spoken of but if you look at any of the high level studies, in all cases there is either oxidiative stress, low cysteine levels or low glutathione levels.

Why Women Talk Talk About Improved Sex Life with Glutathione

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Years ago we did not talk much about improved sex life, the little blue pill, erectile dysfunction or ED. Well, this is about why women will talk about it when men do not. And to keep the conversations going, there is a link on how and more importantly, why watermelon was found to have the Viagra effect.

Having worked in the health care industry for close to two decades now, I have seen a lot of changes. Things we did not talk about that we do now.

For instance I knew 15 years ago that you get vitamin D from the sun and we all need to get some sun exposure each day. Yet when going back through one of my nursing books, there was not a single reference on vitamin D. Vitamin A was there, vitamin B, C and even E was there but no vitamin D. It was not even there as a hormone. It just did not talk about vitamin D.

Needless to say, neither in the book or in class, was there any talk about glutathione.

Now, not only do we know what glutathione is, we know it helps over 68 different diseases or conditions. One of those conditions is the human intimacy of sex relations.

This is the one condition that, like vitamin D and Glutathione in my nursing books, is not talked about. Well, at least it is not talked about by guys. For some reason, the hard wiring of a mans brain makes it difficult to speak of this. This is even more true should it be an inadequacy that a man is experiencing. They will talk to me about prostates and bowels, but not that other thing. If they do talk, it will usually be to me before the doc (they then get sent back to the doc). It is like the vitamin D used to be. It is known but not spoke about.

There is an exception here. For some reason, women will talk about sex. I have had numerous conversations with wives who will tell me that what I say about boosting glutathione has helped their sex lives. For those new to this, you cannot take glutathione and get the benefit. All you can do is take the building blocks of glutathione. One of the main building blocks we rarely get in our diet is cysteine.

That women would talk about this was curious then it dawned on me. Women have brains that are hard wired to be nurturing and help others. When they are talking to me, it is so that I will tell you, “Hey, it works!”

But, anecdotal evidence is just not enough. So, check out this study on watermelon and improving yours sex life. Of course, it is most likely the cysteine that results in the Viagra effect.

Oh yes, and ever just boosting your glutathione does brings on the same effect.

Good sexual health to you.

What kind of Pain is Caused by Fibromyalgia?

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Fibromyalgia syndrome is generally accepted as a type of arthritis of the muscles instead of the joints.

Fibromyalgia pain can affect skeletal muscles, ligaments, tendons and the bursa (sacs that surround your joints) Sometimes the pain can be localized however all the fibromyalgia sufferers I have know experience pain in all four quadrants of the body.

Part of the diagnosis is experiencing pain in at least 11 of 18 specific tender spots or tender points. These points tend to be where muscles and tendons join together.

Fibromyalgia pain is described as a deep and persistent ache although many sufferers also get stabbing, throbbing, and shooting pains in their muscles. Additionally, pains caused by the syndrome can leave a tingling or burning feeling just under the skin. Often, pains will increase in severity over the course of the day, and can migrate to other places on the body.

Some studies show that people with fibromyalgia actually have a much lower threshold for pain than those who don’t have the syndrome. This means that even a gentle touch could cause excruciating pain in someone with fibromyalgia. This lower threshold may be a result of the syndrome.

It is possible that the lowered pain threshold is caused by a miscommunication in the brain.

Not all pains are created equal.

Diabetic nerve pain is as it sounds, a pain from the nerves. It is also referred to as neuropathic pain. It can include burning, tingling, numbness, shooting, stabbing, shock-like or lancinating.

Fibromyalgia pain is a nociceptive pain and more specifically a visceral pain.

Some have noted a stabbing, throbbing, and shooting muscle pain. There may also be a tingling or burning feeling just under the skin. But wait, is this last part not the same as diabetic pain.

Not exactly. It is a post secondary pain. It is a secondary pain that results from the original visceral pain. And since something in the bodies nerve conduction is misfiring any way, it is easy to explain this other pain.

There are two separate medical treatment guidelines for each of these pains.

For those who do not get relief from the medical establishment, there is another option.

This option involves three things.

Eliminating foods and additives in foods that are neuro-toxins.

It also involves boost your intercellular glutathione. This can be done with both diet and supplements.

The third it a rather no-brainer. Once you read the studies on how boosting glutathione helps with both the pain and correcting nerve conduction problems you will have a choice. If you try boosting your glutathione and it works for you as it has for many, you will want to avoid the medicines that deplete glutathione from your body. One main one to eliminate is acetaminophen.

Is the Swine Flu Shot Safe?

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Is the Swine Flu Shot Safe?

A warning that the new swine flu vaccine is linked to the deadly nerve disease, Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) was leaked to British paper, The Mail on Sunday.

The letter references the use of a similar swine flu vaccine in the United States in 1976.

More people died from the vaccination at that time than from swine flu.
About 500 cases of Guillain-Barre Syndrome resulted from the vaccine.

It was estimated that the vaccine increased the risk of contracting GBS by eight times.
The vaccine was withdrawn from the market after ten weeks when the link with Guillain-Barre Syndrome became clear.

In the first swine flu debacle, one in 80,000 people came down with GBS. There were over 40 million Americans who received the vaccine before it was stopped ten weeks later.

On a more encouraging note, boosting your glutathione has been associated with minimizing the effects of swine flu. In the test, it was suggested that it be used to prevent outbreaks.

Also, should you be one of those who should get the flu vaccine and if you end up being one of those with GB, then there is a lot of evidence that indicates boosting glutathione can help with GB.

Proper Nutrition For Athletes: What to Avoid

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

There are several facets of proper nutrition for Athletes.

Proper nutrition involves what the body is nourished with, when it is nourished, how you nourish, and why. Another lesser considered aspect is what foods to be avoided.

Daily nutritional needs are remarkably similar to non-athletes needs. There are new fads and supplements released weekly. They come complete with the latest scientific studies that say they are the next best thing to do.

One constant truth is that proper nutrition is essential for optimal athletic performance.

When considering what you should take in, also consider what you should be avoiding.

Proper nutrition includes what you take in, when you eat it and what you avoid.

Why Fluoride Should be Avoided looks at the poison in our water.

MSG, BHA are two more toxins we need to avoid.

Incidentally, if your considering boosting your glutathione, it has been shown to be the antidote to many of the toxic substances we take in. Not only that, two studies show an increase in strength and endurance.

I am still working on this. Want the information sooner, just contact me through GlutathioneDiseaseCure.com

Good health to you.
