N-Acetylcysteine Side Effects of the NAC Glutathione Potentiator

We have updated the side effects of n-acetylcysteine.

I am amazed at how may distributors of the various products, even in the health food stores will blindly tell how wonderful they are and there is nothing to worry about. They do not realize that they could be inadvertently practicing medicine with out a license. Even worse, their suggestions could harm their patients.

It is always wise to run anything you want to take by your doctor or pharmacist. Always.

Why?

One example is N-Acetylcyteine or NAC. Some people are potentially allergic to NAC. In the case of diabetics, NAC and its sulfhydryl metabolites, like other sulfhydryl-containing substances, could produce a false-positive result in the nitroprusside test for ketone bodies used in diabetes.

Check out some of the additional reasons to be careful in the link below.

First, this is not an anti-NAC post. NAC is a truly wonderful suppplement. Only be smart about how you use it, especially if you are already on other medications, end up in the hospital in an emergency, or are taking it for health reasons.

The glutathione boosting effect of NAC is associated with treating or helping over 69 different diseases or conditions. Don’t let it get a bad rap because of not using it right.

Good health to you.

Although I’ve been taking NAC for several months, the only side effect I’ve experienced is severe heartburn if I take it on an empty stomach. I never experience heartburn is I take it after a fatty meal with a full glass of water.

The reason I take it is to boost my HDL cholesterol. I’ve seen an abstract from a study showing that NAC supplementation can boost HDL cholesterol in a dose dependent manner.

My ENT prescribed NAC to help thin postnasal sinus drainage. Works great! I was surprised of its many other positive benefits! Boosts HDL cholestrol -awsome! I have noticed increased gas & bloating — but all the benefits seem to far out weight the negatives!

I have 3 head injuries, ADHD and at 65 years it makes me sleep better, more energy, a clear mind, relaxed and content. But, remember to take 3 times the amount of vitamin C with it to prevent homocysteine in the blood…bad for the heart!

I had a chronic exercise induced cough. Tested for asthma copd, reflux and nasal drip. None were diagnosed. Lung specialist labelled as atypical cough. No solution offered. Saw reference to NAC N-acetly-L cysteine in a medical health book. I have been taking 2–600mg/day for 3 months now with major reduction of chronic cough, despite exercising more. Occasional reflux hearburn if taken without a full meal only side effect.

This is great. Now if you want to take it to the next level, start using the water cure. It will eliminate the need for NAC. I still use NAC but only as a rescue med, say, when I am exposed to MSG when we are out to dinner.

Go to http://www.GlutathioneDiseaseCure.com to learn more about the water cure. I am just getting started with it. It has helped me to loose over 30 pounds so far. Best of all, it is free.

Good health to you and yours.
