To look at this backwards, why do some not get the flu. 

This takes it beyond the vitamin D thing. The reason may be low CG syndrome. If you boost glutathione, you may rarely ever get upper respiratory illnesses or as the second study showed, if you get them, your body will be able to deal with them.
