Before I tell you about the pain relieving red beet and how to get the benefit, first let me tell you why I am telling you.

Many of the visitors here know that I have switched my nursing career to that of Holistic Nursing.

I am constantly studying and looking for the foods and food combination’s that help people with various pains.

Why buy medicines or even pay for supplements when you can eat foods that will help you manage or even eliminate pain.

One of the first pain relieving vegetables I discovered is red beets. There are two criteria for them to work.

One you must eat them raw. Do not peel them or cut the skin off. Rather, scrub the skin and then slice, dice or shred. They can be mixed with coleslaw. Even the mayo in the coleslaw will help with the pain management.

One of the keys to working, you have to chew the beets in your mouth. Just juicing the beets may not provide as much benefit. This is because the chemical that the body uses is best absorbed into the blood stream in your mouth, not in your gut.

No, there is no study to show this but in the patents I have worked with, this seems to be one of the factors that makes it work over just juicing and drinking the juice.

Next, I recommend only taking one or two beets a week with a break in between. This has been discussed before and there will be more on why in later posts.

Finally, and this is just emerging…for me, some times the beets do not work and sometimes they do. What is the reason for the difference?

Considering where I bought the beets, it turns out that some are Round Up Ready GMO beets and some were locally grown organic.

The price difference was so little, it did not matter. The effect was dramatic however.

It is important to get organic beets and not GMO beets if you want the full effect. There is increasing evidence that the GMO as well as the Round Up use cause health problems including birth defects.

How well does it work?

Here is a testimonial sent from Whitehall, Pennsylvania from a woman who has arthritis pain and was looking for natural pain relief.

Hello Jonathan,

I am thanking Jehovah for you being a part of my life and introducing me to raw red beets. I have had them in my daily salads for over a month now and a lot of my pains have disappeared.

Regards,

EB

Have they worked for you? Let us know if this or any other natural healing has brought you benefits.

Good Health to you.

According to doctor Ranit Mishori, colon cleansing is unhealthy and a waste of money.

This is a general review of colon cleansing and colon cleansing danger.

The reason for the above report was because the doctor was seeing patients hospitalized by colon cleansing.

We agree. There are foods that naturally do this for us and are safe. Bran as in bran muffins and raw beets for example tend to clean people out.

Look at the animal kingdom. Do animals cleanse their colons? No, so why would we want to beyond what foods do naturally.

If anyone promotes this, simply ask for the science that it helps. If you are offered any scientific studies, please post them here. I am not aware of any.

Good health to you.

Could your pets be making you sick? Yes according to Dr Casey Barton Behravesh, an epidemiologist at the CDC. She works in the Outbreak Response and Prevention Branch of the CDC.

The most common culprit is Salmonella.

What Pets Can Expose You?

Reptiles including turtles (their sale as pets banned since 1975), snakes, or lizards

Amphibians like frogs

Poultry such as chicks, chickens, and ducklings

Rodents which in addition to your pet lab rats, would include hamsters. Doesn’t everyone have a lab rat these days?

These animals can be otherwise healthy, clean and pristine and yet still be sharing Salmonella with you, their caretaker.

Know the Signs and Symptoms of Salmonella

Salmonella infection usually causes acute gastroenteritis with fever, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, vomiting, and often bloody stools. The incubation period lasts from 12-72 hours and the duration of the illness typically ranges from 4-7 days.

In plain English, you will feel like someone sucker punched you in the gut, and at the same time, your tummy wills sound like a kettle boiling over. The pain may come and go in waves. In the most sever form, you may have thoughts of wondering if death is an option because anything would be better than the pain. Conversely, if you are a parent, you may be thinking natural child birth would be more desirable, even if you are a guy.

The bloody stool will not be the bright red typical of hemorrhoids rather, a it will be a darker mahogany colored stool.

The incubation period is how long it takes you to get really sick. The duration is how long you have to be sick till you get well.

Treatment

Unless you are already dealing with something really bad and especially a compromised immune system, you really need to see a doctor and start boosting your immune system.

Otherwise, the usual treatment is to rehydrate and tell you to suck it up. Not very comforting but that is the usual way it is treated.

There is a dark side…. Salmonella can result in serious illnesse. Sepsis, joint infections, and meningitis, and other infections can result in you being even more sick. Even worse, they can result in you being dead if you already have health conditions like HIV infection, other immunocompromising conditions or sickle cell anemia. If you have any of these, not only do you not want to have the above as pets, you need to know if family or friends have them. Even a handshake could cause the spread of the infection.

Otherwise, like mom always says, wash your hands.

If you should get sick, if it is any consolation, there are 525,600 moments in a year. You will only be sick less than 2.7 percent of those moments and unless you read another article like this in the next 20 years, you will probably forget all about it.

By Terry Beckham

Is anti-aging a concern for you or your loved ones?

Simple all natural anti aging is possible if you make sure of something very important.

First, why be concerned?

The news is abuzz about anti-oxidants and how they help with anti-aging or as Jonathan Steele, the owner of this blog would say, aging management.

The market place is ripe with anti-oxidant supplements these days. Antioxidant are molecules that inhibit oxidation of other molecules. Rust is the result of oxidation of steel. When cells get oxidation, the problem is even worse. The molecule that causes cellular oxidation is called a “free radical.”

Did you know that you can get anti-oxidants from natural sources?

One of the best all natural antioxidants comes from a raw food, but it is the best, only if it is all natural, organic and has no preservatives, sugars or additives.

And this is the key. organic, no pesticides, no preservatives, no sugar and no additives.

The dark blue and purple fruits are rich in antioxidants. One way to measure how much antioxidant power a food has is called the ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbent Capacity) standard.

Do you know which fruit has the highest ORAC value? It is the acai (pronunciation: ah-sa-ee) berry from a palm tree in the Amazon Jungles of South America.

This fruit is delicious. To me, it has a taste like a cross between blueberries and dark chocolate.

Imagine that, good health and great taste packaged as food.

You should be aware that there are a number of faddish diet products containing acai berry-most of which are useless. The best acai berry products are organic, pure and unadulterated with no additives. If sugar is added, much of the benefits are lost.

If you would like to learn more about the importance of organic and all natural, please go to our acai resource: healthy-life-vitamins.com/compare_acai.html

Terry Beckham is a natural health researcher and owner of a natural supplement resource website.

Guest Post by Eléonor d’Allaines

Exercise is an excellent stress reducer. I’m sure you’ heard this many times before. But it’s true. Really, exercise is an undeniable factor to effective stress management.

Now, the one thing to remember if you are not an exercise geek (like myself), is that is doesn’t matter what type of exercise you do as long as it involves you moving.

Whether it’s running, cycling, swimming, climbing, kicking, or even just walking, anything will do. Why? Because stress management exercise is not about how many calories you loose or how many miles you run or even how many pulses a minute you go, it’s about taking sometime for yourself and clearing your head.

Taking time is very important for effective stress management. It’s very important because it means you take the time to do something good for yourself. And making yourself feel good is an excellent way to reduce stress. Exercise not only makes you take the time, it also genuinely makes you feel healthy and well. And it doesn’t matter what type of exercise that is as long as you are comfortable with it! Go to the Stress Reducer Exercise section of my site to learn more about my exercise stress reducers.

Stress-management.org gives you advice, techniques and tips that the author herself uses to help her deal with stress on a day to day basis. Putting aside what doctors or articles might say, step by step she guides you through her experience of stress management (the good and the bad) and how it has worked for her. She explains that stress management is a very personal thing and through her experience, shows you how to apply effective stress management, never forcing anything but giving practical and useful advice on effectively managing your stress.

A study our of the UK, “Reduced dietary salt for the prevention of cardiovascular disease,” found that even after looking at more data than in previous studies, there is still insufficient evidence to say if a reduced salt diet could help prevent heart attack.

I along with other nurses have been teaching reduce salt intake and reduce the risk of heart attack. Yet, there is no evidence that this even works. Think about that.

We propose a novel but not new idea. Rather than reducing salt, increase the water intake.

Most people are chronically dehydrated.

If you drink a glass of water every day within 20 minutes of getting up, you will drastically reduce the risk of a heart attack. It is that simple. Add a pinch of sea salt to your mouth before taking the water and you will do even better.

As far as salt goes, eat natural unrefined sea salt. The refined salt may be what is harming us. Think about it, any time we mess with the natural foods they cause harmful effects on our body.

It is that simple.

Side benefit: You will loose weight.

Good health to you.

What is the Semmelweis Effect or the Semmelweis Reflex?

The effect of reflex is a metaphor for the almost reflex like rejection of a new thought or suggested paradigm shift that rejects the strongly held beliefs of a group of people.

It is thought to have originated from Ignaz Semmelweis, who both discovered and suggested to his colleagues that fever mortality rates in children could be reduced ten-fold if doctors would wash their hands with a chlorine solution between contact with patients.

His disinfection suggestion was overwhelmingly met with rejection by his fellow physicians.

We are taking a new and bold change to our view of health care. We are looking for less expensive and improved ways to manage health. We have found better alternatives to the MLM products and at cheaper prices.

We have even found some that will cost you nothing more than what you are currently spending on food. This is because some of what you can do is simply eat the right food.

Will you be a victim of the Semmelweis Effect as we roll out this new health care business model?
