A Glutathione By Any Other Name…

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

Here is another study that is touting the benefits of a diet that boosts your intercellular glutathione.

This is just more on how boosting glutathione can help with over 69 different conditions or diseases.

The 2009 article, Amino acids: Metabolism, Functions, and Nutrition. says that amino acids have…”important functions in both nutrition and health.”

cell signaling molecules
regulators of gene expression
are key precursors for syntheses of hormones
are precursors of low-molecular weight nitrogenous substances

Elevated levels of the by products of these (ammonia, homocysteine, and asymmetric dimethylarginine) are pathogenic factors for neurological disorders and cardiovascular disease).

There is growing recognition that some amino acids are necessary for maintenance, growth, reproduction, and immunity.

Dietary supplementation with one or a mixture of these AA may be beneficial for preventing or treating health problems related to fetal growth restriction, neonatal morbidity and mortality, weaning-associated intestinal dysfunction and wasting syndrome, obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, the metabolic syndrome, and infertility.

They also optimize the efficiency of muscle growth, milk production, egg and meat quality and athletic performance. They help preventing excess fat production.

Diet Quest

It is still working, although way slower than I would like.

It has been 6 months. The new low is 272lbs. How low can I go.

If you read Kieth Connects the Dots Blog, he too is trying to be a looser.

Maybe I should have an online dual with him, see who can draw the target weight first.

Any thoughts?

Almonds: Do they Help You Lose Weight?

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

The answer is yes. Here is the study from 2003.

Almonds vs complex carbohydrates in a weight reduction program.

CONCLUSION: Eating several ounces of almonds a day can improve a number of problems associated with metabolic syndrome. They even reduced diabetic medication needs.

Almonds decreased body weight, decreased fat and improved health in a number of ways. The weight loss was beyond that of the weight loss using drugs. This study was from a few years ago.

To get the best results: either eat raw or organic almonds, a minimum of several to a few dozen or more.

Diet Quest Continues

What if….

Most people do not have a life style or the health to be able to exercise. Exercise is an excellent form of weight loss, cancer prevention and in some cases a cure for many diseases including cancer.

Many are faced with economic challenges and cannot afford medical treatment for weight loss.

There are a myriad of weight loss books and programs. Some work for some and not for others which probably includes us.

What if there was truths in each and every one of those diet programs.

I have been testing this theory of mine. In the past week, I have gone from 298 lbs to 285.5 lbs yesterday and today 8/29/08 down to 284.5 lbs.

The first ten lbs can be water weight. So, what will tomorrow and the next week bring?

The diet is simple. It involves combination, elimination, and multiplication.

Combination

The diet involves combination of many diets. Most boost immune power. All make you lose weight with out exercise. If you exercise, the results will be more dramatic.

Elimination This involves eliminating two things. Anything that is toxic to the body. In my case I continue to boost my glutathione with supplements and diet.

This means no MSG, no nitrates (no processed meats), no milk unless organic, no aspartame, etc.

It also involves elimination of foods that either I have an allergy to or cause a weight gain reaction.
No milk products unless they come from organic milk (Prolac, the hormone given to make cows make more milk makes me break out in a rash. This is true even of cheese or yogurt.).
No bread or pasta.

No cookies, cake or processed wheat products and foods like these.

The first response my wife had to my plan was how much it was going to cost.

The first week bill was about $120
Second week bill came in at $70 (this week had the most dramatic results from a diet addition)
Third week bill ended at $40

The frig is fuller than ever. Tuesday is grocery day. We will only need a few things.

Sorry Starbucks, you didn’t make any money on us.
No fast food, no snacks, no sodas, no junk food. We don’t own stock in them so no loss to us.

Oh, but we do get to have snacks. watermelon, cantelope, apples, fruit cocktail only made by me (no sugar, etc).

What if you could lose weight, save money, eat more than ever and feel better?
Next time, find out how much I am eating. Hint…more than ever.
